We leave Golden cycling along the banks of the Kicking Horse River. Yesterday, the river was still rushing through a narrow canyon, today it seems rather tame just before the confluence into the Columbia River.

Also the Trans-Canada Highway 1 leads through sparsely populated area. Being a cyclist, one is well advised to adapt its stages to the catering possibilities.

North of Rogers, the scenery remains lonely. The road follows the Columbia River and the railway line parallel to the river. If we are overtaken by a train, the overtaking process takes quite a long time. Trains in Canada can reach a length of 4 km.

Beer of the day: Dead Frog brewed by the Dead Frog Brewery in Aldergrove, British Columbia. Let's hope that the name o the beer has nothing to do with its ingredients.
